Closed for refurbishment

After attending a morning training session in central London I went to the British Museum meaning to do some work looking at the Assyrian reliefs depicting the siege of Lachlish. Unfortunately the gallery was closed for refurbishment and had to make do with a wander round the other Assyrian galleries.

In the evening went to LAMAS meeting at Museum of London to hear Martin Biddle talk about new ideas on early Saxon London, which place the first settlement in the Strand area (c 7th century). Interestingly he said this had never been investigated because people believed the settlement must be within the limits of the old Roman city. The danger of dogma!
