Whilst visiting Hyde Park recently, I came across the statue of Peter Pan.

The statue was commissioned by the writer JM Barrie and was placed here in 1912. The sculpture was Sir George Frampton. The choice of this location is thought to be due to the Gardens being one of his inspirations for the story and that it was close to his home in Bayswater. This is the original, but there are at least 6 copies in other places worldwide. It has recently undergone restoration and maintenance and was re-unveiled on 1st May this year.

Sir George Frampton made several copies between 1913 and his death in 1928. these included both miniatures and full-scale statues. The miniatures mostly went into private ownership and one was sold in 2016 for £60,000. The full-size copies can be found in Sefton Park, Liverpool; Brussels Belgium (a gift from Frampton in 1924 to celebrate Anglo-Belgian friendship); St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada; Perth, Australia; Toronto, Canada and Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey, USA.
