Ladybirds

Looking through my pictures of Ladybirds. Most are of 7 spotted Ladybird, the common species. I was very pleased to be able to photograph 13 spotted Ladybird, which I found at Barnes Station in SW London. Harlequin is an invasive species which has spread over the UK A native of Asia it arrived in the UK in 2004, probably from Europe where it was used as a method of aphid control and spread rapidly. They come on a bewildering array of colour variants.
