A walk around the Palace

Today Sue and went for a walk around the grounds of Eltham Palace

I was particularly interested to see what Butterflies and Dragonflies would be about on a bright warm sunny day. We had 4 species of Dragonfly: Emperor, Black-tailed Skimmer and both Common and Blue-tailed Damselflies. As yet there were no small Red-eyed Damselflies, an uncommon species locally and the speciality here, but it is probably a couple of weeks early for them as they normally emerge in July and August. The only butterflies we saw were a handful of Holly Blues.

It was a lovely walk and a welcome break.
