Bode’s galaxy

Bodes galaxy (AKA NGC 3031) is a spiral galaxy relaively close to Earth -only 12 million light years away. Its active nucleus contains a black hole and thus has been of considerable interest to scientists.

It was named after Johann Bode who first described it in 1774
