Things finally began to get busy on the patch. We had the return of the Finches (Chaffinch, Goldfinch and Greenfinch) and the first of the winter Thrushes -a single song thrush on a couple of days. The numbers of Starlings and Parakeets passing through on the way to roost has also noticeable risen this month.
29 bird species were seen on the patch this month. The year’s total rose to 51 species as the highlight of the month was the visit of a Pied Wagtail to the garden. These used to be common on the patch nesting around the station buildings but it seems not this year and this was the first patch record for 2013.It was a first ever record for the garden.
