One of the astronomical things I would love to get to see are the Northern lights. Here’s a great picture of this awesome phenomenon

Here’s another amazing shot of the aurora by Harald Albrightsen.
There’s no doubt it’s been a poor solar maximum for solar cycle 24, but if you live in the right locations there are still plenty of chances to see the aurora borealis and perhaps even capture it in stunning fashion like Mr. Albrightsen did here on January 9, 2014 while in Kvaloya, Tromso, Norway.
Aurora are tricky targets just to view let alone photograph but with patience, planning, practice patience and probably blowing a few great shots before you get it right, you can take amazing photos of them. Admittedly, I haven’t been able to capture any this cycle due to almost constant cloud cover and a minimum level of activity in my location. And as always, Murphy’s Law dictates that…
