The Robin has often been voted the U.K.’s favourite bird. It has also become a favourite for Christmas card designers. It is an aggressively territorial bird, using its red-breast to announce his presence to other males. Yet despite this Robins remains uniquely inquisitive. It is sometimes known as the gardener’s bird as it will often come very close to people working in the garden, perching on nearby shrubs or garden tools.

Robins are one of the few birds that hold territory all year round. They are found across the whole of the UK in woodlands, parks and gardens. Their success is probably due to their wide diet which can include worms, seeds, fruit or insects

it is estimated that the UK population is in the order of 6 1/2 million breeding pairs.
