It does feel it has been a particularly good year for Dragonflies. the number of species I recorded in the UK was the same as last year (17), although the number of species on my local patch was down from 8 to 6. But overall numbers seem to have been down, quite similar to data being reported for butterflies this year.
This year on my patch the highlight was that we recorded a record number of Common Darter, including my first record of a female. The missing species were Emperor dragonfly and Willow Emerald damselfly, which I had recorded for the first time last year.
