A sunny Sunday morning and a trip to Battersea Park in search of one of the more exotic ducks that makes it’s home in London.

The Lake in Battersea Park is one of the largest in London and has many inlets and quieter areas where the birds are undisturbed by human activity.
There were plenty of Mallard, Tufted Duck, Shoveler and a few Common Pochard together with Mute Swan, Black-headed Gull plus single Lesser Black-backed and Common Gulls. The Grey Herons were already active in the Heronry on the island.

In a quieter section of the lake I found my target birds, the flock of Mandarin Duck that are often found here. In all there were about 10 birds sheltering in the undergrowth.

My walk around the lake a good variety of birds both on the water and in the trees and bushes surrounding it and was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning.
