Sutcliffe Park

A bright sunny day and a trip to our Local Nature Reserve at Sutcliffe Park. The LNR consists of the Quaggy River where it flows through the Park initially through a marshy area and a large lake.

The wooded scrub was quiet with just a couple of Robins singing.

On the lake were Mallard, Tufted Duck, Canada Geese, Coot and Moorhen. On the Island a group of around 20 Black-headed Gulls were roosting as was a Grey Heron that sat in a nearby tree. A little Grebe was heard and then located at the back of the lake.

Moving on I took a brief detour across the road to Cator Park to check out the smaller lake there. Mute Swan, Moorhen, Coot and Tufted Duck were present.

A Little Grebe, well into summer plumage was also present and was soon joined by a second one.

Tracing my way back to Sutcliffe Park, I made my way back to my starting point along a different set of paths but only added a small group of Long-tailed Tits to my list.

A lovely morning walk in the winter sun.
