A walk through Greenwich Park on a sunny February Day. My walk took me from Blackheath through the Flower Garden to the Deer Enclosure. Sadly there are still no deer, despite lots of promises from Royal Parks that they will be replaced. The notices say it will now be spring this year, but we wait to see if there is yet another delay. There were lots of Crows, Magpies and jackdaws and a single Great Spotted Woodpecker but no wintering thrushes to be seen. Back in the flower garden, I spotted a Buff-tailed Bumblebee Queen feeding in the flower bed, my second February sighting of this species this year. An indication of our changing climate is that they are being reported as early as mid-February.

Next stop was the Lake, which was very quiet with 2 Canada Geese, a Greylag Goose and a couple of Moorhens. A party of Mallard rested on the grass surrounds. The Egyptian Geese were already out on the grass with their young.

From here I walked downhill towards the river with great views down towards the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Naval College (now University of Greenwich) and Canary Wharf beyond.

Looking up the hill, I had views back to the Royal Greenwich Observatory perched on the hill top.

Continuing through the park I eventually arrived into Greenwich, the end of my walk.

A nice walk even if it was very quiet from a wildlife perspective.
