A walk around Eltham Palace

A bright Saturday morning and Sue and I decided to go for a walk around the grounds of Eltham Palace.

On such a lovely day there was much to be seen in the gardens with a number of Holly Blue Butterflies and 5 species of dragonfly around the moat: Broad-bodied Chaser; Large Red Damselfly; Azure Damselfly; Common Blue Damselfly and Red-eyed Damselfly.

Another odd sighting was Western Honey Bees on the pond algae.

The moat is also a usual breeding site for Grey Wagtail and we saw a male, so hopefully they are breeding again this year.

A very pleasant morning’s walk.
