A trip to the Ecology Park on the Greenwich Peninsular. this oasis of quiet and nature is surrounded by the Tower blocks of the Peninsula’s housing developments.

My main reason for visiting is that this is one of the closest places to central London where Common Tern breeds. It was good to see that new Tern rafts have been introduced since my last visit to provide more protection for the nesting birds.

There were a good number of Terns and young on the rafts.

This is also a good site for Dragonflies and I saw 4 species: Emperor dragonfly, Black-tailed Skimmer, Azure damselfly and Red-eyed damselfly.

I also came across a very obliging Wren which sat on a branch singing.
