A bright sunny, if cold, January morning and a first walk of the year around the Tarn.

The western end was frozen except around the water pump and the birds congregated on the ice. The wintering drake Teal was with a group of mallard and a Grey Wagtail fed along the frozen margins.

About a third of the Tarn remained unfrozen and groups of birds were swimming feely here.

Two Egyptian Geese flew in from the direction of the golf course, where they had been feeding.

So no new arrivals but a lovely walk in the winter sun.
