Black-Veined White returns

The appearance of Black-Veined White butterflies in the UK in 2023, having been extinct here since the 1920s, caused quite a stir. Their appearance at Hutchinson’s Bank in Surrey was probably a result of an unauthorised release. Now comes the news that Butterfly Conservation, ZSL and Natural England are planning their own release of Black-Veined White at Knepp in Sussex.as a first step to re-establishing the species in Southern England.
