Bode’s Galaxy

NGC3031

Bode’s galaxy (aka NGC3031 or M81) is a spiral galaxy found in the constellation Ursa Major. It is 12,000,000 light years from Earth and its nearness makes it a popular target for amateur astronomers. It has an active galactic nucleus containing a super-massive black hole and there are star-forming regions with in the spiral arms.
