26 species were seen on the patch this month.
Things have generally been quiet as the birds get on with the job of raising their young. This has been most evident on the Tarn where Greylag Geese, Canada Geese, Coot , Moorhens and Mallard have successfully bred.
I had been wondering whether this year the Swifts would stay around and breed. I can’t be sure about the breeding as they appear to be somewhere to the north of the garden most of the time, but certainly between two and four birds have been seen during the month, which certainly holds out hope that they have bred again locally this year.
The only new butterfly species,in fact the only butterfly species, recorded this month was Large White.
