The Greenfinch is a regular garden visitor which is found across the Uk. It has been subject to variable population changes with a marked decline in the 1970s and 80s follwed by a dramatic increase in the 1990s. However recently the population has been declining again. This decline has been linked to a parasitic disease Trichomonosis. It is estimated that there are currently 1.7 million breeding pairs in the UK.
