Looking out of my window at Breakfast time a few days ago, I noticed a small brown bird making its way up one of the large trees. It was a Treecreeper. Not the first I have seen in the Gardens but certainly the first for at least a couple of years.

The Treecreeper has a curved bill, which it uses to extract insects from underneath the bark of trees, It is a resident species, although it may disperse from its breeding area during the winter. It is estimated that there are around 200,000 breeding pairs and the population is stable.
A nice start to the day
