Spring is finally on its way! How can I tell? Well the geese on the Tarn this week were kicking up a right rumpus as pairs fought and argues over the best nesting spots available. The Tarn normally has a couple of pairs each of Canada Geese, Greylag Geese and Egyptian Geese, but on my most recent visit, there were 14 Greylags, 12 Canadas and 20 Egyptian Geese (a site record number).

The usual resident wildfowl were present. The Coots are beginning to occupy their nest sites from last year and the drake Teal was back keeping company with a female Mallard.
