The Tarn in May

A walk around the tarn in the last days of May on a bright sunny day.

The Geese are now very inquisitive and approach you as you walk along, no doubt in anticipation that you may have food to feed them.

Whilst I was sitting on the bridge this family of Egyptian Geese came by

A pair of Greylag Geese were resting with their young by the waterside

Some Coots already have chicks whilst others are still on nests

But apart from this there was little of interest bird wise.

There were quite a few interesting insects to see including Early Bumblebee and the first Common Carder Bees of the year. I also found a Common Copperback (Ferdinandea Cuprea), a Hoverfly that I have not recorded on the patch before.
