Naturelog: Friday 22nd November

This morning out doing the November Thrush survey on the patch and surrounding area. There is certainly a lot more bird activity than last month and the number of Blackbirds and Starlings seems to have risen. Found one roosting group of around 35 Starlings at the southern end of King John’s walk which is certainly the largest group so far this winter. Also at the Eltham Palace end of King John’s walk I found a party of 4 House Sparrows. This is about half a mile from the site where I found the Sparrows last month and it could be the same group, but at least the sighting suggests they are staying in the area which is good news.

Elsewhere I have had parties of Greenfinches, Goldfinches and Chaffinches appear in the Garden along with the Winter’s first Song Thrush.
