Went out this morning to do the BTO Winter Thrush Survey of the area that includes Sutcliffe Park LNR. At first it didn’t seem a promising morning for surveying anything as the fog was quite thick. But by 0930 it had burnt off and within an hour it was getting quite warm.

Generally the area was quiet but had excellent views of male Wren displaying by Boardwalk. His whole body from beak to tail shaking as he chased the female from bush to bush.

Also flushed a Fieldfare from grassy area by Athletics track. Due to the mild weather this is my first record of this winter visitor in Greenwich borough this winter.

Good numbers of Blackbirds seen and two Mistle Thrushes – one in Sutcliffe Park and one near Cliftons Roundabout

Sightings of a few White-tailed bumble bee and the coots carrying nest materialon the lake at Sutcliffe Park, not to mention the amount of bird song remind us that spring is on its way.
