But now that 40 years has past David Lindo (AKA The Urban Birder) feels the Robin’s many decades in power needs to be challenged, so he is fronting a campaign to help find Britain’s new national bird. Running alongside this year’s General Election will be this alternative Election.

All you have to do is visit the campaign’s website at http://www.votenationalbird.com/#top and vote for your choice out of 10 species.These 10 birds have been chosen from an original list of 60 iconic British birds that were voted on last year.Each of the 10 species has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Great British public.
