The coming of late summer is the time to see Darter Dragonflies and the commonest as it name implies is the Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum). It can be found almost everywhere in the UK, although more commonly in lowland areas. It can be found on many types of water bodies. It can be seen from July till December, although its peak occurrence is in August and September.
