A chance to get out and do some birdwatching last week, so I set out for the London Wildlife Trust reserve at Walthamstow Wetlands in search of a Yellow-Browed Warbler that had been seen there in the days before. The weather was not promising as I left home, but the forecast said it should clear up by 11am and then remain dry for the rest of the day. I arrived at the reserve around 11am and after a coffee at the visitor centre, I set out. True to the forecast the rain had stopped and I made my way to the area in which the YBW had been reported. A male Blackcap was a nice bird but sadly no YBW.

I decided to do a walk around the reservoirs and then come back for another look.

Unfortunately whilst the forecast had been correct about it stopping raining at 11am, it got it very wrong about the rest of the day. By 12 noon it was raining hard and even my waterproofs were proving less than effective. A check of the now updated forecast showed it was going to continue for some time so I decided to abandon my search .
