Met with a friend from Texas last week and we went to explore the temple area of London. This area was the precinct of the Knights Templar in London. When the Templars were suppressed the area was taken was given by the King to Hugh le Despencer and the buildings started to be the area associated with lawyers. The area was divided into 3 areas, Inner Temple, Middle Temple and Outer Temple. Outer Temple became disused during the 16th century and was eventually redeveloped. Today the Inner and Middle Temple became the centre for the legal profession in London

At the centre of the area is the Temple Church, built in 1185.
