Am in West Sussex for 5 days birdwatching on the south coast. As I haven’t worked out how to transfer pics from my camera to iPad this weeks birdlogs will be with out pictures but I will blog some photos when I get back to London.

My first stop this morning was to Siddlesham Ferry, part of the RSPB Pagham Harbour reserve. There were a good number of Shellduck and 4 avocets on the ferry pool and Sedge Warblers calling from the reed-beds. Walking down the west wall I saw a Common Chiffchaff, a Willlow Warbler 2 Buzzards, a Kestrel, Skylark, Meadow Pipits and 2 Little Egrets.I had planned to walk down to the harbour entrance but the path was very muddy ( and I didnt have boots with me) and so I decided to move onto look at the sea at Selsey Bill. There was not much activity on the sea but I did add 40 Turnstone and a Red-breasted Merganser. My final stop of the day was Pagham village on the opposite side of the harbour to Siddlesham. Plenty of small birds and a pair of Collared Doves.

In contrast to London, there is certainly no shortage of House Sparrows in West Sussex as I have seen plenty today

Total number species today: 45 species
